Binghamton-Seton CC baseball game will benefit troops
Tonight’s high school baseball game between Seton Catholic Central and Binghamton at Conlon Field will carry more significance than your typical non-league contest.
The 7 o’clock game will benefit Operation Community Cares, which provides assistance for troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as their families — and also honor the memory of Jim Orr, an Endicott native who passed away in March. Orr, a former pitcher for Seton Catholic Central, Broome Community College and LeMoyne College, assisted his son Ryan in organizing events for Operation Community Cares.
All donations received at tonight’s game will go toward Operation Community Cares.

Join the Orr family – Memorial Service and Reception to celebrate the life of Jim Orr
James J. Orr, formerly of Endicott, New York residing in Corona, CA suddenly passed away on March 15, 2012 at UC Irvine Medical Center.
Jim was very active upon his retirement after 33 years of service at Untied Parcel Service. He assisted his son Ryan in organizing community outreach programs/events for “Operation Community Cares”. Many activities included fundraising, coordinating food drives, assembling/delivering care packages and sponsoring events to benefit our troops/families that serve(d) in Iraq and Afghanistan. His devotion and steadfast allegiance to “Operation Community Cares” represented his appreciation for freedom and security for all those who serve.
In every sense, Jim Orr was a patriot, an advocate of veterans, an avid golfer and more importantly a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
His sudden passing leaves many at a loss and he will be sorely missed.
Jim Orr is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 41 years; his two son’s and wives, Scott & Cindy, Ryan & Danielle; Grandchildren: Aidan, Paityn, Riley, Bryce & Graham and his 3 brothers: David, Bob and Allan Orr.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that charitable contributions be made to Operation Community Cares by visiting OperationCommunityCares.org
A memorial service will be held at Hillside Community Church located 5354 Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday March 24th at 1 p.m. A reception at the Trilogy Lodge will commence following the memorial service located at 24503 Trilogy Parkway, Corona.
